Federal Way is located in the
southwestern corner of King County, approximately 25 miles south of downtown
Seattle and eight miles north of downtown Tacoma. Incorporated in 1990 it is
Washington’s sixth largest city with a population of 101,300. Federal Way has 31 developed parks and 19 open
space parks on approximately 1,141 acres of land. The community features one of
largest shopping malls in the state (The Commons at Federal Way) and the popular
family-oriented theme park Wild Waves. It is popular with Seattle workers for
affordable housing while being an easy commute.
